Abstract
This report aims to identify stakeholder requirements and considerations for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and vehicle-to-other (V2X) device credentialing in Canada. While taking into account international standards and technologies, the report specifically details the Security Credential Management System (SCMS) design as defined by the Crash Avoidance Metrics Partnership (CAMP) and its applicability to a Canadian connected and automated vehicle deployment ecosystem. Specifically, the study assesses potential impacts of unique privacy legislation, trust anchor management, interoperability, scaling, border crossing operations, misbehavior management, policy development, and governance aspects. The report forms the basis of work upon which a requirements-based evaluation of deployment options and governance can be developed for further evaluation by key stakeholders.
